Mad Cricket Designs

Artistic exploration has always played an important role in my life. The simple act of making art, in any medium, is a form of meditation for me.  I enjoy creating art through drawing, painting, photography, reclaimed jewelry design and collage. Attending  the Kansas City Art Institute (Fiber Department) enhanced my range of ideas and work. I am now based in Dana Point, California and I am currently selling in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Southern California. 

I dedicated several years to painting custom vintage and antique furniture for a local boutique in a historical home. The process of giving something a "new life" and using my imagination to visualize it in a new space is very satisfying. My latest interest and joy comes from collage art. There are endless possibilities with this medium and I find a new direction in each project. My work includes animals, insects, skulls & skeletons, recycled paper dolls and pieces of ephemera of all kinds.  

I developed a style of my collage that allows me to express a little humor and not take the process too seriously. Each character develops its own personality and I am fond of visualizing different worlds that my collaged characters can make recurring appearances in, while working with depth and dimension to make it come to life. I love requests of subject matter and making others smile with my work.
